Kibale Chimpanzee & Forest Trek

Depart Entebbe after breakfast for the 6-hour drive west, passing through the fertile Uganda highlands with lunch stop en route. Arrive Kibale Forest area — a green cathedral of ancient tropical rainforest — by late afternoon. Meet your ranger for a briefing at your forest-edge lodge; hear the story of how Kibale has become the most successful primate-conservation site in Africa (13 species, over 1,500 chimpanzees living wild).

Pre-dawn departure for chimpanzee tracking — the earlier you begin, the better your chances of finding them still at their nesting sites before they move for the day. Follow expert trackers through the rainforest for a magical hour with a habituated chimp community: watch them hoot, groom, wrestle, and forage in family groups just metres from you. In the afternoon, guided walk in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary — a community-run conservation success where you'll spot black-and-white colobus, red colobus, blue and L'Hoest's monkeys, plus 100+ bird species.

Morning nature walk in the crater lakes region — a beautiful and lesser-known Ugandan landscape of forested extinct volcanoes and turquoise lakes. Long return drive to Entebbe, arriving in time for an evening international departure or overnight at a lakeside hotel.
