Volcanoes NP Gorilla Trek Luxury

Meet at Kigali International Airport by your Vines representative. Transfer 2.5 hours north to your luxury lodge in Musanze, at the foot of the Virunga volcanoes. Afternoon at leisure — visit the Iby'iwacu Cultural Village to meet ex-poachers who now work as conservation ambassadors, or tour the Dian Fossey Fund research center for the story of the American primatologist who made the mountain gorilla world-famous. Early morning departure to the Volcanoes NP headquarters at Kinigi for the ranger briefing, coffee, and group allocation — you'll be assigned to a habituated gorilla family based on your fitness level and their known location. Trek into the misty bamboo forest with expert guides and armed rangers to find your family. When you meet them — after 1-6 hours of hiking — you get a life-changing hour observing them at extraordinary close range. Return to the lodge in the afternoon for a hot bath, complimentary spa treatment, and celebration dinner.

Optional morning golden monkey trek (add-on): meet a habituated troop of these near-endemic primates that live only in the bamboo forests of the Virungas — a very different, playful, energetic encounter from the meditative gorilla experience.
