Ngorongoro Crater & Tarangire Combo

Welcome at Kilimanjaro International Airport, met inside the terminal by your Vines representative. Transfer to your boutique lodge in a jacaranda-shaded suburb of Arusha. Enjoy an early dinner as your safari designer briefs you on the days ahead: what to expect at each park, wildlife highlights by season, and the little practical details that make the difference. Early to bed — tomorrow you are on safari.

Morning drive south to Tarangire National Park (approximately 2 hours). Lunch on the deck of your lodge above the river as elephants come down to drink. Afternoon game drive amidst Tarangire's iconic giant baobab trees — the park hosts one of Africa's densest elephant populations, with breeding herds sometimes 300 strong. Watch for the tree-climbing pythons that occasionally drape themselves in the branches, plus lion, cheetah, kudu, and the endangered fringe-eared oryx.

Early morning game drive as elephants make their way down to the Tarangire River — the best time to see mothers with tiny calves. Return to the lodge for breakfast, then transfer to a coffee estate lodge in Karatu, on the edge of the Ngorongoro Highlands. Afternoon walk through the coffee plantation with your grower host — see how beans are pulped, fermented, dried, and sorted, and taste single-origin brews at the estate's café with panoramic highland views.

Dawn departure to descend into the Ngorongoro Crater. The road drops steeply through cloud forest onto a floor 20 kilometres across, teeming with wildlife: endangered black rhino, prides of dark-maned lion, thousands of wildebeest and zebra, flocks of flamingo on the soda lake, and dozens of raptors overhead. Picnic lunch beside a hippo pool. Emerge to the crater rim for sundowners as the shadows lengthen across the floor 600m below.

Morning transfer back to Arusha (approximately 3 hours), with time to visit the Cultural Heritage Centre — East Africa's most comprehensive gallery of Makonde carvings, Tinga Tinga paintings, and Maasai beadwork. Lunch at the airport, then onward international flight from Kilimanjaro International Airport.
